A sick commentary on our “Healthcare” system

Oregonians are now using the lottery to determine who will qualify for the state’s healthcare program. Life and death is now determined by the Lotto. If this isn’t a sign that our healthcare system is SICK, I don’t know what is.

TELL ME that this was an April Fool’s . . .
But considering that it took until my third trimester to finally qualify for any health insurance, after 6 months of trying, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. I still expect to hear that they’ve kicked me out again any day now . . .

P.S. Upon reading the article, 2 further thoughts:
1) I find it interesting that this is covered by the BBC.
2) My best friend from high school is actually the clinic manager for Outside In, the organization providing health care for the homeless & otherwise needy mentioned in the article (their director is interviewed).
