About Kate

By , June 20, 2007 5:50 pm

My name is Kate Kelly.

I was born in Tucson, AZ and was promptly transplanted from desert soil to the more temperate climate of Hood River, Oregon. I grew up in this small town on the banks of the Colombia River and at the foot of Mt. Hood.

Since leaving Oregon I have lived in Washington DC, London, Hawaii, Spain, Thailand, Mexico, Provo, Salt Lake City, San Diego, New York City, Costa Rica & now back to DC.

I am 32 years old, and a graduate of Brigham Young University and have JD from American University Washington College of Law, the only law school in the nation world founded by women. I have had a career of various and sundry amazing jobs, and am currently doing a fellowship at the Women’s Refugee Commission.

I plan on using my legal education to change myself and the world.

Like Neil, I’m a constant schemer, and  I look forward to many adventures, many of which you can read about on this website.

Hi Kate, while perusing google in search of an example acceptance letter, I some how came across your web site. Just wanted to ask; what prompts a person to do such a thing? Without sounding rude or judgemental, is it ego? You are adorable so maybe that is it. just thought I’d throw it out there & see if I ever get a response. All the best to you & the charity work you have completed. Really terrific. S

Hahhahaha. What prompts us to have a website? Great question. I think mostly its procrastination… j/k. We like it because it serves as a journal of events/pics/thoughts etc. Also, helps keep in contact with friends & family.

… and apparently random Google searchers!

I hope to one day visit the places that you’ve lived. I’m 26 with a 2 and 4 year old. I’m currently in college but after I’m done, we’re off to adventure.

    Kate-

I found your site from John Dehlin’s fb page, linking the talk, “Can One Woman Change the World.” I am contacting you because my husband went to WCL at AU. If you need any advice, a summer internship, etc. please feel free to contact me at the provided email address.

Best of luck to you and your blog is totally rad.

    Hi Kate,
I found your blog in increasingly desperate Google searches involving adult tonsillectomies. (I enjoyed reading a good deal on here besides your helpful and hilarious recounting on surgery.) When you have a moment, could you let me know if you ever had any post-tonsillectomy respiratory problems? My recurrent tonsillitis came out of nowhere since moving abroad (read my tale of woe here:http://tinyurl.com/9vju3gt) and I am set to see a specialist soon. I have heard some people may be more susceptible to chest infections and I do have some history of bronchitis so if you have any personal experience you could share, I’d be very grateful. My email will be in the comment form if that’s preferable. I have two little ones so being laid up for 10 days is pretty rough. Congrats on passing the bar, by the way.
