About Kate
My name is Kate Kelly. I am 26 years old, and a graduate of Brigham Young University in Political Science. I picked that major, primarily, because of a crush I had on a professor my freshman year. As a wise 26 year old I have found that my interests lie far beyond the formal political arena in non-profit work.
I am currently busy crossing my fingers that I will get into law school and was working as an Americorps volunteer at the English Skills Learning Center a non-profit organization in Salt Lake that teaches English to refugees & immigrants. Before that I taught a Home Buyer education class and did Mortgage counseling at a non-profit in Provo, Utah.
I plan on going to public interest law, with the end goal of being legal council to a non-profit agency.
I was born in Tucson, AZ and was promptly transplanted from desert soil to the more temperate climate of Hood River, Oregon. I grew up in this small town on the banks of the Colombia River and at the foot of Mt. Hood.
Since graduating from High School in Oregon in 1999 I have lived in Washington DC, London, Hawaii, Spain, Thailand, Mexico and Provo Utah (perhaps the most adventurous of all).
I served a mission from 2002-2004 in the Barcelona, Spain mission, one of my most treasured experiences. My family has since relocated to Provo, and so yet again I am transplanted…back to the desert. We love the beauty and variety Utah has to offer.
Like Neil, I’m a constant schemer, and I look forward to many adventures, many of which you can read about on this website.
Viva la vida!
