Weekend trip to Volcano Arenal
So I went to a volcano called Arenal with some of Kate’s friends from work. Kate was unable to come because she has had some school “work” to catch up on. Even though our group was more than a dozen, I enjoyed the trip. We stayed in a hostel with a swimming pool and every spent the first 5 hours of the trip in the pool. We then took a tour of the volcano which included, as pictured below: 1) a beautiful garden with hundreds of humming birds, exotic plants and a suspension bridge, 2) a trip/swim in a waterfall, 3) another night trip/swim to a rio caliente (a hot river heated by the volcano) and finally 4) a photo opportunity with some tree frogs.

Jealous. That looks beautiful. Very cool time-lapse.
Amazing shot of the frog, the colors might be a little dark, but great depth of field, super sharp on the face. I like that one a lot.
Jer, you would love this place. I am not joking when I say I saw over 100 humming birds.
Jesse, thanks for the comment. Tt was really tough to shoot the frog because it was lit by flashlight and the guide holding it kept moving around so much, so I am lucky to have gotten anything.
In that case, the lighting is pretty good.
Sounds like Neil Ransom’s idea of heaven!
I had an awesome weekend filled with nothing but writing a long-overdue paper.
This just goes to show kids: procrastination doesn’t pay!
Those photos are beautiful, Neil. I agree with Jesse about the frog shot–especially lit by a flashlight! Holy cannoli. So cool. Glad you are maxing out the CR experience!
Awesome frog shot!
Oh, the Rio Caliente sounds nice.
awesome photos Neil….I *heart* that frog photo, as others have said. he is so adorable!!
