    For the record…

    By Kate | November 6, 2007

Today at a gas station in Provo a sign read:

“We no longer accept checks. We apologize for any incontinence.”

I was so flabbergasted I could not even take a picture, although I was sorely tempted. What a blissfuly humorous blooper.

A shockingly similar thing happened to me at the local HEB grocery store last year:

      awesome!

I remember a few years ago when they found Saddam Hussein in that hole. all the gas stations, car washes and fast food places in town had something to say about it on their light up marquees.

like one A&W/KFC put it succinctly:
“we have Saddam!” I also missed the photo op, and never made it inside to see him.

i dont think the forthcoming counts as a malaprop, but, speaking of malaprops, i just saw the words amelia bedilia written out and it looked like a spelling error. the effect was worse when i said it out loud. if anyone can relate to a nickname with staying power, it is i; you might want to warn aneilia that his isn’t goin anywhere…

That’s funny… I once had a student in a Business Writing class who made that exact same error. Hopefully he figured out the difference before he got out into the Real World…

Speaking of linguistic drama, I caught the last spelling error in Kate’s personal statement for law school. Me, the boy who couldn’t spell his first name until 8th grade (I go by my middle name)! Kate had written costal (a rib or rib like part) village instead of coastal village. Kudos to me!
