Yo ho, yo ho the sailing life’s for me…

Kate, Neil and Leo Sailing the Chesapeake

Yesterday Neil and I went sailing with our new friend (and current gracious host in DC) Leo. Other than the fact that there was virtually no wind, it was fantastic. Since I did not get any video footage of Neil steering the boat, you’ll just have to reference the above clip from “What About Bob” for his joy-factor. He was as happy as a lark in a park. (Also, if you look closely in the above photo you will note that I am wearing actual, active fit-overs. It’s come to that folks. It’s come to that.)

Our seaworthy craft was the Gypsy Lady.

Kate, Neil and Leo Sailing the Chesapeake

We hopped out of the boat for some chillaxin’ in the Chesapeake. We have decided to give up all of our silly idealistic ambitions and be as rich as possible and own as many boats as we can in life. Not really… but, Neil is now trying to convince me that we should purchase and live in a boat instead of renting an apartment. This he sees as a legitimate option, even in DC where the water freezes over in the winter time.

Luckily, I am sane, and we will not be living in a boat any time soon.

GUESS WHAT?????!!!?????

Ransom Reunion

No, I am not pregnant.

(THE FOLLOWING IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE)

We have found a real place to live very close to my campus. It is also very cheap rent for the area.

The only catch is that we will be in charge of several rescued cats who will be living with us in the apartment. Below is photographic proof for those who may not believe me.

Cat Lady Kate

You may notice that the kitten is desperately trying to escape my loving embrace. Apparently I still need to work on my “Cat Whisperer” skills. All in good time, all in good time.

So, farewell New York. You gave me:

Dinner with Friends
Beautiful views.

Jim and Kate on a Bike Ride
Bike rides across the Brooklyn Bridge.

RevBilly

The chance to meet Reverend Billy.

Kate, Jake and Jill at a Freak Show

Real freak shows.

But, DC has already offered me friends with a yacht and a pathway to becoming a real-live “cat lady.”
Viva the District of Columbia!

Some photos Neil’s took on a day off. Not sure why they are included except there was no where else to put them.

What a great, great post. Made my whole day. My whole weekend, who is kidding who. . .

Is there room for lots of Kelly house guests in your new Cat-topia?

Good thing you love animals so much, Kate!

  2. Jen says:

Ew, cats. Good luck with that.

Thank you for using “than” correctly. A glittering star of correctness in a sea of “then”s.

  3. Jill says:

You had a chance to post a cute pic of me and you chose that one?

  4. Jen says:

Or a star of correctness in a sky of thens, if we are members of the Unmixed Metaphor Society.

  5. Kate says:

    Jill, duly noted.
Jen, or a shining drop of saltwater in the night sky of poor grammar, if we are up for totally making up new metaphors. Which, I’m guessing, we are. ;)

kate, this is the funniest thing ever. you always did make a lovely pirate. i can’t deal with how funny it is that you will be a cat lady. you’ll need an umbrella to shake menacingly at neighborhood kids.

jill, both ryan and i agree that you look pretty in that picture. don’t trip.

  7. susan says:

Kate- I hope you and Neil have a chance to meet my former roommate Frances while you are there. She just moved to DC too! Can I set you guys up on a friends date?

  8. Kate says:

SUSAN! Yes indeedy. We have no friends here, it would be nice to meet some peeps… especially if they come with great friend references like yours ;)
